Before your service visit
Stay Safe While You Wait for AC Repair
Smoke, fire or dangerous sparking?
Leave the area and call 911 from a safe location first. An HVAC service visit is not a replacement for emergency services. Do not inspect electrical panels or open the AC unit.
No cooling, but no immediate hazard?
Note the thermostat setting and symptoms without dismantling anything. Stay in a cooler safe place if indoor temperature is becoming unsafe. Report the cooling loss and any vulnerable occupants when calling.
Breaker trips, noises or water?
Do not keep resetting a tripping breaker. For harsh noises or significant leaking, stop cooling at the thermostat only if safely accessible. Avoid standing water near electrical equipment and do not touch wet components.
A small condensate leak is not automatically an emergency. Describe its location and amount so we can assess the urgency; do not try to diagnose a refrigerant leak yourself.
Diagnosis and pricing
What Determines Your AC Repair Cost?
Free diagnostics
No diagnostic or call-out fee. The technician identifies the cause and explains the options. See our current diagnostic offer.
Parts and labor
Repair costs depend on the failed component, equipment model, access and required work. A capacitor or fan motor issue has a different scope from a compressor replacement or refrigerant leak repair.
Your approval first
You receive a repair price before work starts. We explain any need for special-order parts or a follow-up visit. The repair itself is not included in the free diagnostic offer.
Professional troubleshooting may include thermostat controls, electrical components, the air filter, duct airflow and refrigerant performance. These checks are performed by the technician, not requested as homeowner DIY tasks.
Your questions answered
Seattle Emergency Air Conditioning Repair FAQ
What counts as an AC emergency?
Loss of cooling during extreme heat can be urgent, especially for heat-sensitive occupants. Repeated breaker trips, burning smells or loud grinding noises also need prompt assessment. For active smoke, fire or dangerous sparking, leave the area and call 911 first.
Can someone arrive today?
Call to confirm the current appointment window. Same-day availability depends on technician capacity, your address and demand. A service request is not a guaranteed arrival time; we confirm scheduling directly.
Should I turn off a malfunctioning air conditioner?
For harsh mechanical noises, burning smells or significant leaking, stop cooling at the thermostat if it is safe to reach. A cooling fault alone does not mean you should operate the breaker. Do not open panels, touch wiring, touch wet equipment or repeatedly reset a tripping breaker.
Is the diagnostic visit really free?
Yes. Product Air offers free diagnostics with no call-out fee. Diagnosis does not make the repair free: you receive the proposed parts and labor cost and approve the work before repairs begin.
Do you repair central AC and ductless heat pumps?
We work on central air conditioning systems and ductless mini-split heat pumps. Tell us the equipment type, brand, model if known, and any displayed error code. Parts availability and the diagnosis determine the repair plan.
Will the repair be completed on the first visit?
Service vehicles carry common replacement parts, but a compressor, control board or model-specific part may need ordering. If that happens, we explain the next steps and what to do with the system while awaiting repair.
How is emergency repair different from AC maintenance?
Emergency repair addresses a current breakdown or urgent symptom. Maintenance is scheduled preventive care for airflow, cleanliness and performance; it is not a substitute for diagnosing an active fault.
